A West-Central Indiana man is dead following an officer-involved shooting Thursday night. Indiana State Police say 35-year-old Chad M. Fiscus of Rockville died at Union Hospital in Clinton after being shot by Parke County Sheriff’s Police.
Parke County Sheriff Justin Cole says deputies responded to a call involving a domestic dispute between a father and son around 11:15 p.m. The call was to a home at 9856 East South Street.
Indiana State Police are investigating and were told that when two deputies arrived on the scene they found a subject outside the residence with a rifle. The subject immediately started firing multiple rounds at both deputies, who took cover behind their patrol vehicles. State Police say an exchange of gunfire occurred between the deputies and the subject, resulting in the subject being shot. He was later identified at Chad Fiscus.
State Police say the deputies immediately rendered medical assistance, and Fiscus was transported to Union Hospital where he died.
One of the Parke County Sheriff’s Deputies was also transported to Union Hospital where he was treated for a superficial wound and released.
All Parke County Deputies involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, which is customary in an officer-involved shooting.
The investigation into the incident is being handled by Indiana State Police Detectives from the Putnamville Post. Upon completion of their investigation a full report of the incident will be sent to the Parke County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
