Members of the Vermilion County Board have been told the county’s revenues continue to run very strong. Steve Fourez, who chairs the County Board’s Finance Committee, says at the end of July the county had already received 94.6 percent of the revenues that were projected for the current fiscal year.
‘’All fund balances are running in the black for the year – and holding steady,’’ said Fourez as he addressed the board. He also noted the second half of real estate tax bills are due in September. Board members were told the county may be at, or near, 100-percent of the revenues it needs for this year’s budget by the end of September.
Part of the reason the budget looks so good is some federal funds that the county received earlier. But if that amount is subtracted from the current revenue total, Fourez said the revenues would still be above 66-percent of what is needed this year.
