Audio Player{‘’It’s been really wonderful to see how a community comes together and helps those in need. But the next step, which is very important, is going to be assessing all the damage. Finding out what people need in the coming days, and determining the amount of damage, and what kind of emergency assistance we might need to request from the state government moving forward.’’]
Representative Bennett has been working closely with local officials and agencies – including the American Red Cross – as they help in the flood recovery efforts.
On another subject, Representative Bennett expressed concern about the state’s budget outlook….
Audio Player{‘’Of course the fiscal year starts July 1. So one month into the new fiscal year our budget watchdog agency reports that revenue is not keeping up with spending. We’re down by more than a billion dollars in revenue compared to this time last year. Illinois already has the lowest credit rating of any state and we cannot keep spending more money than we take in.’’}
Representative Bennett serves all or part of five counties – including Iroquois, Livingston, Woodford, Ford and Vermilion.
