Sunday was Veterans’ Day at the Illinois State Fair, and a special ceremony that kicked-off the day honored the state’s Gold Star families. They are the families of loved ones who died while serving our nation. One of the speakers was Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton…
{AUDIO: ‘’Time may pass, but I know that it still hurts. And you should never be ashamed of your tears or the fact that some days it’s just so very hard. I know you miss them every single day,’’ said the Lieutenant Governor. ‘’It’s really why we host this gathering because in coming together we can draw on our collective strength – and lean on each other in these times of need and find comfort.’’}
Governor JB Pritzker also addressed the crowd….
{AUDIO: ‘’In our Branches of Service, and among all of us who revere the men and women of Service, the men and women of our Armed Services are so important to all of us. But we hold up our Gold Star families – and those they’ve lost – as the object of our deepest respect.’’}
The Governor on Sunday also signed a package of legislation affecting Illinois military families.
