A man who served Danville Area Community College for over 50 years has been named Grand Marshal of next month’s Danville Labor Day Parade. David Kietzmann is being honored by the Vermilion County Federation of Labor AFL-CIO.
The Annual Labor Day Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 6th, 2021, at Williams and Vermilion in Danville. Organizers have announced that registration for the parade has been extended to Saturday, August 21st.
Kietzmann earned an Associate Degree in computer programming at DACC in 1969. He worked for the college as a computer programming instructor and rose through the ranks to become DACC’S Executive Vice President. It was through Kietzmann’s direction that Danville Area Community College added new programs and improved others – including bringing the Wind Energy Technician Program to the college. Kietzman also led the way in bringing new health care programs to the Danville campus, and led the local Labor-Management Council over twenty years.
Anyone who still wants to enter units in the parade, or has questions about it, can call 217-418-0944.
