Danville City Council members have approved spending $701,500 to hire an engineering firm to develop a new master plan for Garfield Park. Assistant City Engineer Eric Childers says part of the agreement includes design and construction engineering for improvements to the municipal swimming pool there…
Alderman Rick Strebing likes the way the city is carefully reviewing what improvements are needed at the park and pool. ‘’This is a good way to do it,’’ said Strebing. ‘’Looking at everything on a wish list.’’

Final designs are expected to be ready by February or March of next year. Construction improvements for the pool are expected to begin next April. And the pool is expected to re-open in time for the 2023 season.
