Some inter-city softball games at Danville Stadium on Saturday (August 21, 2021) are going to honor a Champaign Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in May. Officers from the Danville, Champaign, and Decatur Police Departments will be participating in the games honoring Chris Oberheim.
Admission is free, however donations will be accepted to support Peacemaker Project 703. It is a nonprofit formed by the Oberheim family to proactively support law enforcement and their families.

There is family fun beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Danville Stadium on Saturday, with the opening ceremonies at 5:00 p.m. There will be a friendly competition among teams representing the Danville, Champaign and Decatur Police departments for bragging rights.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase, along with a huge supply of items in a silent auction – including beach condo packages. And the grand finale after the games is fireworks.
Plenty of seating will be available, including lawn seating in the outfield for ample social distancing. Bringing your lawn chairs is encouraged.
The Danville Police Department, along with all participating police departments and the Oberheim family would like to thank the many sponsors who have stepped up and contributed so much for this event. All proceeds will be donated to Peacemaker Project 703. You can learn more about it on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PeacemakerProject703/.
