The Danville Dans have hit a home run with their DansShare program, which supports area non-profits, as well as schools and sports teams by having participants work in the concession stand or sell the 50-50 tickets. The concession groups receive donations for their work, and can accept tips as well; or receive a portion of 50-50 proceeds.
This past season, the DansShare program gave nearly 97-hundred and 50 dollars to area non-profits and sports teams. And if not for four home game rain outs, the total would have been even higher.
Other special Dans efforts this season included hosting ImpactLife Bloodmobile, a COVID-19 vaccination night working with the National Guard and Vermilion County Health Department, as well as working with presenting sponsor OSF Healthcare to raise funds during the season finale All Cancer Awareness Night. The Dans currently count 29 current or former Major League players who passed through Danville to play in the summer collegiate wood bat Prospect League.
