A labor activist and former senior advisor to Governor JB Pritzker has announced she is running for the 13th District Congressional seat currently held by Rodney Davis. Nikki Budzinski was born in Peoria and after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign, became a labor activist working with the IAFF firefighters union and UFCW.
Budzinski claims Congressman Rodney Davis isn’t getting the job done. ‘’The stakes are too high for middle class families like the one I grew up in to have ineffective leaders in Congress, and I plan to go to Congress and deliver for Illinois,’’ said Budzinski. She already has the support of several labor unions and Democratic County Chairmen who are in the 13th Congressional District.
Budzinski raised more than $125-thousand dollars in 24 hours after launching her campaign on Tuesday.
