Monday is the first day of new mask mandates in Illinois. Governor JB Pritzker announced the new mandates in response to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Starting Monday (August 30, 2021) all Illinois residents over the age of two are required to wear a mask in all indoor settings. And the requirement applies to both those who have already been vaccinated and those who are not vaccinated for COVID-19.
The Governor also announced recently that starting September 5th, educators and healthcare professionals will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Those who are unable or unwilling to receive their first dose of the vaccine will be required to get tested for COVID-19 at least once a week. And the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education may require more frequent testing in certain situations – such as an outbreak.
