The Vermilion County Health Department says it is aware of seven county residents who have become reinfected with COVID since July 1st. And of 85 new cases reported Monday, seven of them said they were already fully vaccinated for COVID.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Douglas Toole says currently there are 31 county residents with COVID who are hospitalized. And Vermilion County currently has 276 active cases of COVID.
There have been 163 COVID-related deaths in Vermilion County since the pandemic began.
Of the 85 new cases, seventeen are teenagers, and ten are grade school-aged children. The others include one resident in their 80s, four in their 70s, eleven in their 60s, nine in their 50s, fifteen in their 40s, and five in their 30s.
Toole reminds county residents that vaccinations for COVID save lives. The Health Department is encouraging citizens to get vaccinated, get tested, stay home if you are sick, and wear face masks.

In addition, local hospitals – including OSF, Carle, and the VA – also offer vaccinations, along with pharmacies, Aunt Martha’s, and some private providers are also providing vaccination clinics in Vermilion County.
SHIELD ILLINOIS Saliva COVID testing is taking place at the Vermilion County Health Department every Wednesday.
As of Monday (August 30, 2021) figures show 34.54 percent of the total population of Vermilion County are now fully vaccinated. Only 35.12 percent of Vermilion County residents who are 18 to 64 are fully vaccinated (as of Monday).
