If you are a Vermilion County property owner who has not paid the second installment of Real Estate Taxes for 2019 – that payment is due on Friday.
Vermilion County Treasurer Darren Duncan announced in April that, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, his office would not enforce a penalty on anyone paying the first installment beyond the June 12th due date. It gave taxpayers nearly three extra months to pay their property tax bill without any negative affect or extra cost. The second installment is due on Friday (along with any money that has not been paid on the first installment).
The waiver of the penalty did not apply to banks and mortgage companies that had already collected property taxes and were holding them in escrow.
