Firefighters received the alarm for the blaze at 11 South Virginia Street shortly after midnight Saturday morning. The call said a person was possibly trapped inside. When firefighters arrived on the scene they were told by a witness that there was an adult still inside. There were heavy flames coming from the structure as firefighters went inside and located the person. The victim was rescued by removing them out a window with assistance from Danville Police. The condition of the person rescued was unavailable.
There were five family members in the house when the fire erupted and Danville Fire Chief Don McMasters says they all escaped, but two dogs perished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting. The value of the home was placed at $45-thousand dollars, and damage was estimated at $40-thousand dollars.
