The Danville District 118 School Board now has two vacancies, as Bill Dobbles and Lon Henderson have resigned. School Board president Dr. Randal Ashton stated after Wednesday night’s meeting that Dobbles’ and Henderson’s resignations have been accepted, but did not offer any additional comment at that time.
It was at the last regular meeting that a proposal to adjust the recent agreement with the Danville Education Association, spurred by Dobbles and Henderson, was tabled; after board vice-president Shannon Schroeder pointed out that an effort to adjust a couple things in the recent DEA agreement was already underway, and that Dobbles and Henderson’s effort was not necessary. Dr. Ashton did confirm that efforts are continuing to make a couple of adjustments on that latest contract.
Henderson did not attend last night’s meeting. Dobbles did, long enough to be the only “no” vote on an extension of Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddes’ contract. He then walked out, with the resignation taking effect at that time. As for Dr. Geddes’ new contract, the four members present last night after the two resignations all were very positive about the new deal, including Dr. Ashton.
AUDIO: It’s just an extension of the contract for four years. There are still some other terms that we have to get settled out. But it extends her contract so that we’re secure in both of our relationships in that we support her, and that we look forward to working with her for the next four years.
District 118 Board member Darlene Halloran was absent last night, due to being out of town.
