The Vermilion County Health Department has released a Friday, September 17th report that shows 98 new COVID cases within Vermilion County. Unlike numerous recent reports that showed the majority of new cases under the age of 20, this report shows the majority of new positive cases over the age of 20, with those in their 20s and 30s being hit the hardest (total of 40 cases).
The latest report of 98 new positive cases includes three in their 80s, seven in their 70s, five in their 60s, ten in their 50s, eleven in their 40s, 18 in their 30s, and 22 in their 20s.
This is in addition to five teens, 11 grade-school-aged children, and two toddlers.
There has also been an additional Vermilion County COVID death, with the victim being a female in her 40s. This brings the total number of COVID deaths in Vermilion County to 178.
There are currently 30 Vermilion County residents hospitalized with COVID, with four of them reporting to be fully vaccinated. Currently, there are 234 active COVID cases throughout the county.
Due to Vermilion County’s HIGH transmission status, it is recommended that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a mask when indoors.
