An investigation is continuing into what caused a fire early Saturday at an Applebee’s Grill & Bar in Danville. The fire was near the front doors of the business at 3569 North Vermilion Street. The Danville Fire Department has concluded that no foul play was involved.
Applebee’s is open for take-out orders, but the dining room remains closed.
General Manager Kevin Freeland said the flames climbed a wall in a tower section located in that area. He and Danville Fire Chief Don McMasters said that most of the damage was on the outside of the building. Chief McMasters stated that no one was hurt. Damage estimates were later stated to be around $50,000.
Freeland praised Danville firefighters for their quick response that contained the damage. He said they had to cut through part of the tower area in order to douse the blaze.
