There’s a busy weekend coming up over at Forest Glen, with one event already full. Laura Danzl of the Vermilion County Conservation District says the Mushroom class is full, but, maybe there will be a surprise opening.
AUDIO: But if people are interested in being on the wait list for it they can give me a call our here at the park at 217-442-1691. But basically we start out inside the Gannett Education Center with a discussion about mushrooms with Dr. Andrew Miller. And then he’s going to finish the morning by taking up outside on a hike where we look for the fungus.
Meanwhile, it’s Beach Grove Trail Dedication Day at Forest Glen. As Danzl explains, this effort is in honor…of Marilyn Campbell.
AUDIO: Who (Marilyn Campbell) was the district’s first naturalist. She was our first outdoor naturalist educator on the staff here. And when she passed away, there were a lot of people that wanted to do something in memory and honor of Marilyn. And we decided to repave the Beach Grove Trail at Forest Glen.
Some accessibility and other improvements are being made to the trail as well. Just stop by at 1 PM Saturday at Forest Glen to participate in the Beach Grove Trail Dedication activities.
