The 30th year of the Danville area Toys for Tots campaign is underway. During this past Friday’s special John Zarn Memorial Kick-Off at Courtesy Ford in Danville, Coordinator Megan Montgomery said that this week the collection boxes are being distributed, and as challenging as last year was, doing Toys for Tots in the midst of the pandemic, she expects this year to be challenging as well.
AUDIO: Actually I expect our numbers to go up because the economy around here does not seem to be recovering as well as what what we would hope. We serve children through age 14, and last year we served just over 1,500. I expect to have at least that many and probably more. We may have to do things, again, a little bit differently; maybe not be able to put as many people through as fast, but we’re still going to allow families to come in and shop for toys.

Distributions to families will begin in mid-December, and that will be here quickly. To find out where you can drop off your contributions go to Danville-IL.toysfortots.org. Remember the Danville region includes Warren and Fountain Counties in Indiana. There was a kick-off drive this past Friday at Courtesy Ford, with that kickoff named the John Zarn Memorial Kickoff Drive. John Zarn was the founder and longtime coordinator of the Danville area’s Toys for Tots Campaign.
