A change is coming to ambulance service in Vermilion and Champaign Counties, but the plan is to make it a very smooth transition between now and January. OSF Healthcare and Advanced Medical Transport have entered into an agreement to transition all OSF PRO emergency ground transportation services in the two counties to AMT. All OSF PRO assets will be donated to AMT, which will operate under the name AMT East. PRO ambulance director Bob Holloway says this could be called a win-win situation, or even better.

One, we have a big win for OSF so they can really stay true to their core of their business within acute health care in our community; it’s a big win for PRO and AMT to be able to expand and partner with additional communities in Champaign and Vermilion Counties, and I think it’s a big win for our community to have a true community-based ambulance service with a local board of directors and local goverance.
Holloway says, Vermilion County residents will probably notice just a couple things.

Holloway says he’s hoping all the transition work will be done by around January 17th.
