Danville’s Festival of Trees is about a week away, and the team of volunteers would love to have you come aboard. Volunteer Jackie Vincent joined Linda Bolton on 1490 WDAN’s Newsmakers program, and talked about where you’d need to go.
AUDIO: We still have need for some volunteers. And if people are wanting to sign up for to be a volunteer at Festival of Trees they can visit the festivaloftreesdanville.com website and sign up to be a volunteer there.
In addition to the website, there’s also a phone number you can call: 217-213-4760.
Mary McMillan, who leads the team of Festival of Trees volunteers, said anytime between the 13th and 17th of November, if you can offer just a few hours, just say so. And as she told Linda Bolton, volunteers are important both before and after Festival of Trees starts. And there are opportunities for different ages.
AUDIO: You can volunteer for a time slot in the gingerbread bakery to warm up gingerbread and sugar cookies, and sell them to people at the festival. You have to be 18 to do that, but there are opporunities for younger individuals as well. We can also use middle school and high school students in the children’s craft area.
For the record, if some young interested volunteers are listening, the children’s craft area hours are set for 10:30 AM to 8 PM Saturday the 13th, Noon to 7 PM Sunday the 14th, and then 4 to 8 PM Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th.
