Vermilion County Farm Bureau spokesperson Tom Fricke says the Veterans Day morning rains may have slowed the harvest down a bit, but not too badly after what had been a pretty good week.
AUDIO: If guys are still trying to finish up corn, they’re probably able to get back in the fields today. They’re probably going to have to hopscotch around wet spots, because we hadn’t totally dried out from all the rain we had at the end of October yet, although guys were able to get into fields and get a lot of harvesting done the last week and a half. We’ve made big progress in getting towards completion, and more and more guys are saying they’re getting done with their particular fields.
Fricke says it’s pretty simple in Vermilion County, in that, “we’re closer, but it’s not over yet.”
