During Tuesday evening’s Danville City Council Public Services Committee meeting, Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr stated that a billion dollar company has expressed interest in coming to Danville. They specialize in making home deliveries. The mayor says, this does mean groceries, but also much more.
AUDIO: Not only groceries, but household items too. Cleaning items, as someone mentioned, baby supplies, you name it; that you need for your home or for your life, outside of furniture or vehicles. They have a huge success rate, not only in other places throughout the country, but here in Illinois. It would be nice to be one of those places that’s working with this billion dollar company.
The interesting issue, however, is that one of the items they want to deliver would be alcoholic beverages. So the question is: Would the City Council want this, and what type of license would need to be set up? Mayor Williams emphasized that doing this would not mean all the bars and liquor establishments in town would be able to do home deliveries. But it could open the door for other stores and companies already offering home deliveries of other items.
AUDIO: (Or) places that already have delivery services like grocery stores and such, but not liquor stores, etc, probably.
The next full Danville City Council meeting is Tuesday, December 7th.
