If you have a youngster interested in bow hunting, or if you’re an adult and you’ve always wanted to try it, you have until midnight Thursday, December 9th to sign up. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is once again hosting a mentored archery deer hunting opportunity for both adults and youth at the Kickapoo State Recreation Area, running December 21st through January 9th. Site superintendent Tim Edison says the idea is to use some hunting area that’s closed to the public, so the focus can really be on teaching.
AUDIO: Our goal is to have the kids learn the right way. Or people who have never done it before, to learn the right way; to see animals, to be able to explain things a little bit to them, and basically make it a really good time for people that might not quite be sure on how to do it or what to do. They might just need a little bit of help.
