This is a reminder that a pair of public information meetings are set for this Thursday, December 9th, on Dynergy’s proposal to move coal ash from the flood plain near its adandoned plant north of Kickapoo State Park.
Dynergy’s current plans show that they would demolish the power plant, and move the coal ash from the flood plain to a new landfill, which would be constructed on the coal plant’s footprint.
Environmentalists have expressed concern for years about the coal ash, currently located near the National Scenic Middle Fork River. The Eco-Justice Collaborative and Prairie Rivers Network have been seeking movement of the coal ash for many years.
The Thursday, December 9th public information meetings are scheduled for 3 and 5:30 PM, in the David S. Palmer Arena, at 100 West Main Street in Danville. Consultants will present the plans, and then ask for public for comments for questions. This is not an official hearing.
