104th District GOP State Rep Mike Marron was in Danville Wednesday evening for a town hall meeting at the Vermilion County Administration Building. Before things got started, he talked about the level of engagement residents seem to have heading into the election year.
AUDIO: 2022 will be definitely a big election, and I think the interest has peaked because of that. I think just a lot of the things that people are seeing right now; the pandemic has led to a lot of things, and people are nervous. You see things like inflation, the price of gas, the price of food continues to go up, and it makes people nervous. It’s a good thing that people are paying attention, but it’s too bad that stuff like this was the catalyst for that.
Marron began the evening by talking about his dislike of items being passed quickly during a lame duck session, and mentioned the Law Enforcement Reform Bill from a year ago. Though he disagreed with lots of it, Marron said he did agree with police wearing body cameras, except he did not like the body cameras being passed as an unfunded mandate.
