State Senator Scott Bennett is asking residents to start off the new year by giving blood. A blood drive will be happening January 3rd through 8th in the Danville Elks Doner Center at 300 East Liberty Lane.
Bennett says, the start of the new year is a great time to give.
AUDIO: Quite honestly there’s no better gift you can give than a blood donation that could save a life, especially those that are going to stay right here in Central Illinois. We’ve helped to pair up with Elks, and we appreciate their offer to let us do it right there at 300 East Liberty Lane in Danville.”
For hours and to make your appointment, go to https://www.bloodcenter.org/donate/locations/illinois/danville.
Meanwhile, there is a new requirement starting January 1st that pharmaceutical companies need to post a notice, letting consumers know that they may request current pharmacy retail prices at point of sale. Senator Bennett says, knowledge is power for the customer, and most pharmacies were in favor of this bill, wanting customers to have the knowledge.
AUDIO: “What’s going to give me the most savings on a particular pharmacutical drug?” And what’s interesting is, the pharmacies, which you would think would have a problem with this, they’re one of the biggest supporters of the bill. They’ll say “Look, I’ll see somebody at 10 o’clock pay more than the same drug would be the customer I have in the afternoon.” They have their favorite clients and customers too, and what to make sure that people get a good deal.
Senator Bennett says, just ask the person waiting on you at your pharmacy about this. And if they don’t know, have them ask a supervisor.
