Tuesday night’s via ZOOM Danville City Council meeting included an update on how the Finance Department is handling the recent shift of the sewer, solid waste, and public safety pension fees billing over from the Danville Sanitary District. City Comptroller Ashlyn Massey stated during the meeting that the amount of calls has gone down, but a couple issues are still being fine tuned.
AUDIO: We got a lot of the senior citizen discounts addressed, but there are a few more that are now coming in. And then the second issue is payments that were made at First Financial Bank. We had a software issue on our side. It was not the bank’s side, I want to be very clear. Their process is fine. If you pay there, and you are comfortable paying there, please feel free to continue to pay there.
Massey says an additional person will be joining the Finance Department on January 10th. She also stated, if you don’t get through right away, the reason is, they’re looking to settle someone else’s issue, and settle it right the first time.
AUDIO: When we’re working with someone, we want to handle it and we want to handle it once. We don’t want to have to come back to it. We want to be thorough.
And Council members also discussed the new garbage toter rules, passed last month and taking effect February First. Remember that residents will be required to remove their toters away from the streets and store them properly once the garbage is picked up.
