THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE:
On 1/15/22, around 11:15 am Danville Police responded to the OSF emergency room in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival officers discovered the victim is a 19 year old Danville man with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers spoke with a witness who stated he was with the victim and they were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 700 block of Chandler St when the victim was shot by an unknown person.
The witness stated he observed a dark colored SUV stop in the roadway in the 700 block of Chandler St and a m/b subject wearing a ski mask exited the SUV and began shooting at the witness and victim. The witness was not injured and was able to immediately drive the victim to the emergency room. The victim is still receiving treatment and is currently listed in critical condition. No further suspect information is available.
The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
