The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has announced initial Recipients of Back to Business (B2B) grants throughout the state, and it includes a dozen businesses in Vermilion County. This state program, funded by the federal American Recovery Plan Act, is designed to help small businesses recover from COVID hardships. Vermilion Advantage’s Nicole Van Hyfte highlights some of the recipients.
AUDIO: Custom Care Dry Cleaners, they were the most recent. But we’ve had several hotels, I know Turtle Run got a good chunk. There’s been a couple of hair salons, and the Vermilion County Museum Societ received $25,000.
Other recipients included Tiny Troops Soccer, the El Toro Mexican Restaurant, Fuzzy’s Bar, K and J’s Tap, Sarge’s Tap; and Stoney’s Restaurant, Pizza and More. Dwight Alan Salon was a hair salon recipient. Days Hotel and Best Western Riverside Inn were on the hotels list.
Van Hyfte also points out, if you applied and did not receive a grant yet, do not give up hope.
AUDIO: The total of grants available for the state of Illinois are $250,000,000. And they’ve given out $111,000,000. So those businesses that have applied but not yet heard anything; don’t lose any hope, because you could still be on the list.
Van Hyfte also expressed a big thank you to Danville Area Community College Small Business Development Center Director Earle Steiner, for his help in reaching as many small business owners as possible about this, both in Vermilion and Iroquois Counties.
