Take all of footage you’ve filmed and edit it down into awesome videos to share with your friends and family. Bring a jump drive or SD card (32GB or higher) to class so you can take your videos home.

Game Design & Development – Level 1: Idle Clicker, Tic-Tac-Toe and Lights Out

Are you interested in learning how to design and develop video games? Then join us for this series of classes and learn how to create video games from the ground up. Use the Unity Engine to create your project and learn the basics of C# programming language to write basic game logic. Create simple 2D animation using premade art and learn the basics game design principles to incorporate into your game. Each level in this series of classes you will build upon existing knowledge so the classes must be taken in sequence.
You will be using the basics of Unity, the platform for game design. Learn how to set up scenes, create scripts that use the basic variable types, and how to save data using Player Prefs. Learn how scripts interact with each other and how to set up the conditions for code to run when you want it to. You will develop three games gaining more knowledge with each one.

Learn how to create a basic player controller that will allow them to use controllers and keyboard controls to move a game object. Work on setting up collisions so players cannot walk through objects. Add art into your game and you will also use the animation system to make your players come to life.

Now that you have learned the basics it is time to move onto level design and create something bigger and better. Work on creating a 2D platformer level then work together to test each other’s levels to see what works, what does not, and why? At the conclusion of the class, the games will be posted online so anyone can play the game you have designed.
