The extreme winter storm which has moved into our area is impacting everything from travel and classes to bus service and court appearances. Here is a rundown of some of the closings:
- All Vermilion County offices will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, February 2nd and 3rd. Vermilion County Board Chairman Larry Baughn Jr., said the decision was made after consulting with the county’s Emergency Management Director, Sheriff Pat Hartshorn, and Chief Judge Thomas O’Shaughnessy.
- All City of Danville buildings will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, February 2nd and 3rd, due to the weather.
All eligible staff will be working from home and will be available via email and telephone.
- DMT – Danville Mass Transit will not operate busses on either Wednesday or Thursday (and possibly Friday as well).
- Code violation cases set for Danville Municipal Court on Thursday, February 3rd at 1:30 p.m. are continued. If you are scheduled to appear then you will receive a notice in the mail regarding your new court date.
- Solid Waste collections in Danville which are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday will be postponed for two days. Wednesday’s collection will be on Friday and Thursday’s scheduled collection will take place on Saturday.
City residents are asked to keep all toters off curbs until your new day this week to ensure they are not buried under snow or damaged from the snow event.
- Danville residents and those in other area communities are asked to park in your driveway, or all vehicles on one side of the street to assist in snow removal.
- Carle says some locations may offer reduced hours or close because of the storm. Drive-thru Covid 19 testing sites in Danville, Champaign and Mattoon will not be offering the tests either Wednesday or Thursday. Primary Carle Care offices aim to remain open but are working to reschedule appointments to virtual appointment options when possible. Carle Emergency Care services are always available and open.

- The Danville Public Library is closed Wednesday and Thursday, February 2nd and 3rd. The library plans to reopen with curbside service and computer lab access on Friday, February 4th at 9:00 a.m.
- Danville School District 118 will not have school for either students or staff on Wednesday, February 2nd, or Thursday, February 3rd. A decision will be made by Thursday afternoon on whether Friday will be an E-Learning day.
- The Danville District 118 School Board meeting scheduled Wednesday, February 2nd at 6:30 p.m. has been cancelled.
- Vermilion Advantage Offices will be closed both Wednesday and Thursday, February 2nd and 3rd due to the extreme weather conditions. Staff members will be working remotely and will be checking emails those days.
- CRIS Healthy Aging Center locations will be closed both Wednesday and Thursday to ensure the safety of members and staff. Both the Danville and Urbana locations will be closed for pick-ups, drop-offs and other business.

- All CRIS Rural Mass Transit offices will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, February 2nd and 3rd. Normal business hours are expected to resume on Friday.
