If you are heading out on the roads today, be careful. Roads remain snow and ice covered across central and southern sections of both Illinois and Indiana. Sunshine is expected at times today which should help, but high temperatures will only be around 20.
Some township highway departments in the area pulled their trucks off the roads last night (Thursday) due to blowing and drifting snow. They planned to resume plowing as soon as it is safe to do so. The unofficial snow total for Danville from the storm is 15 inches.
The Winter Storm Warning is no longer in effect. It was replaced by a Winter Weather Advisory last evening due to continued blowing and drifting. In some areas brisk north winds were expected to possibly produce deep drifts overnight across portions of central, east-central, southeast and west central Illinois.

All Vermilion County, Illinois government buildings are closed again today (Friday)…including the Rita B. Garman Vermilion County Courthouse.
Danville Area Community College is closed again today (Friday, February 4th) due to the continuing winter storm conditions. All offices at DACC are closed and all classes, programs and campus activities are cancelled. The Child Development Center is also closed.
The COVID testing site at Danville Area Community College is closed today (Friday, February 4, 2022). Those needing to test should seek another location.
Danville Mass Transit busses are not running today (Friday), but service is scheduled to resume on DMT’s snow routes starting at 7:15 Saturday morning. (For more information see the story at VermilionCountyFirst.com.)
The Vermilion Advantage Office in Danville is closed again today (Friday), but the staff will be working remotely and can be reached via email.
