For Friday, February 11th through Monday, February 14th; the Danville Police Department will be conducting special patrols for Super Bowl Weekend.
Danville Police encouarge you to have a good “game plan,” and designate a sober driver before kickoff if you are attending a Super Bowl party. If you do not have a designated driver, call a cab, use a ride-sharing service, or ask a friend or family member to pick you up.
Danville Deputy Police Chief Terry McCord says, the special patrols will be out to keep pedestrians safe as well. If you had planned to walk home, and are not in good condition, stay where you are until you can walk safely.
AUDIO: Especially right now, you know, a lot of the sidewalks might still have a little bit of of snow and ice on them. Unfortunately that kind of causes pedestrians to want to walk in the roadway because they think it’s safer, and it’s just not. Once darkness sets in, and it will definitely be dark after these Super Bowl parties, we just want to keep everybody safe. We don’t want any pedestrian accidents, and we don’t want any accidents at all.
Remember, never let a friend leave your sight if you think they’re about to drive or walk impaired. And always remember to buckle up, as it is your best defense in a crash.
