On a cool, crisp Friday night, over 200 walkers and runners and loads of people just enjoying themselves were part of the first ever Glow Downtown 5K in Danville. The whole evening began at North and Vermilion at Temple Plaza, with music and a sea of glowing necklaces and rings all around.

This was one of the new “First Friday of the Month” events in Downtown Danville on this year’s calendar. Mayor Rickey Williams, Junior said Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer and her team did an amazing job, and you better believe, this is coming back next year.
680 – Rickey on Glow :15…annual thing.”
AUDIO: This is what we hoped for. Ashton was expecting 100. She said if we got to 100 she’d be pretty happy, and we had almost 170 registered as of this past Monday, plus a lot of walk-ups. So I think there are well over 200 people here. Absolutely, it’ll be an annual thing.
The runners and walkers began at North and Vermilion, turned south on Vermilion for about half a block, and followed the glowing trail up to Springhill Cemetery, before ending up back in Downtown Danville.
