Monday is the day. Those seeking county office can turn their petitions in to the clerk’s office and officially file to be on the ballot. As County Clerk Cathy Jenkins reminds us, you can file between Monday (March 7th), and the folowing Monday (March 14th).
AUDIO: We open up at 8 o’clock in the morning, bright and early, and then we’ll stay open for filing, it goes all the way through the 14th, the next Monday. And then we’ll stay open until 5 o’clock that night, to make sure everybody has time to get in.
And of course, there’s usually plenty there ready to file at precisely 8 AM, so there’s a way to determine ballot position for that.
AUDIO: What we do is we make sure that we identify those people as they come in, and then we will be holding a lottery. And that way we’ll let them know at that time when the lottery is going to be. And they all can back in or send a representative, and we’ll draw.
The primary this year is June 28th, and general election is November 8th.
