The Vermilion County Board approved some work on county roads in the Catlin and Danville areas during Tuesday evening’s meeting. Afterwards, County Board Chairman Larry Baughn described the projects, which should hopefully happen this spring once it gets warm.

Which is, I believe it’s about right in front of the Catlin high school, on to Jackson Street if I’m right. So in Catlin, that stretch of road. And then the second project will be out on Batestown Road, by Diamond School. It will be some patchwork on the portion of the road just adjacent to what we refinished completely last year. So we’ll patch that this time around. But as our highway engineer said tonight, that’s something that will probably have to be replaced in a couple of years anyway. But if we patch it one more time, we’ll certainly look at repaving that completely.
Meanwhile, United Way of Danville President and CEO Mary Surprenant has stepped down from her County Board position. A vacancy was declared during Tuesday’s meeting. Baughn explains what happens next.

The next Vermilion County Board meeting will be Tuesday April 19th. They’ll be going with the third Tuesday in April rather than the second, due to numerous township meetings scheduled for next month.
