Organizers of a planned celebration for the Kickapoo Rail Trail canceled the event Sunday due to weather conditions. Events had been planned both in Oakwood and on the Trestle Bridge located along the trail west of Danville.
Organizers said they decided to cancel the celebration due to the combination of high winds and rain that were in the forecast for Sunday afternoon. And because of the nature of the spring weather we have been experiencing this year, the celebration is being postponed until later this year. A rain date set earlier of May 1st will not be used.
Kickapoo Rail Trail organizers released a statement Sunday saying they hope the public understands. And they added be sure to enjoy the trail as weather allows this spring. A new date for the celebration will be announced later.
