We are into the month of May, and that means it’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Dr. Jonathon Wade, a Behavioral Science professor from the Liberal Arts Department at Danville Area Community College, will be hosting a “Coffee, Cake, and Conversation” session on Mental Health Awareness, 10 AM Thursday May 12th in the DACC Bremer Conference Center. Dr. Wade says the focus will be on two things: getting past the stigma about mental illness; and, learning to talk about it.
AUDIO: How we can break the stigma individually; us talking about our own things with other people, sharing our stories. And also how we go about starting conversations and engaging other people, through an interpersonal process to kind of de-stigmatize that; whether it’s at work or school, or even in your own family.
