It’s a busy week for Danville Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer. This Friday it’s another “First Friday of the Month” event in Downtown Danville. As Greer explains, SWEETS IN THE STREETS activities will be getting underway at 5 PM. Loads of downtown businesses will be involved; and yes, a certain “classic movie about sweets” will be playing at the Fischer.
AUDIO: Friday night from 5 to 8 PM in Downtown Danville; it’s all planned out, there’s lots of really fun activities going on. If you come down you’re not going to be bored, you’re definitely going to find something to do. There’s a bake sale, there’s live music, there’s actors in costumes, strolling musicians. The Fischer Theatre’s involved, they’re going to show the original “Willie Wonka.” Vermilion River Beer Company and Fatman’s have really fun activities going on. So definitely head downtown, you will not be disappointed.

AUDIO: Yoga is every First Friday at 5 PM in the Kresge Lot, and it’s free of charge. It’s an all levels class, so it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or seasoned. You can come on out and enjoy yoga in the sunny lot.
Also on Ashton Greer’s schedule was this past Friday’s special meeting involving Danville neighborhood associations. She says about 30 community leaders attended, looking at how the city can use its resources to serve the associations and keep them healthy.
AUDIO: What I came away with personnally was a really good idea of how I can help moving forward. What programs I can create, and how I can be that liason between the associations and the city; to help them be successful.
Greer says she plans to have meetings of all the neighborhood association leaders bi-annually, along with an annual conference for neighborhood association members.
