Chief Don McMasters has been part of the Danville Fire Department for 27 years, and does not recall anything happening like what’s on tap for this coming Tuesday. A couple Friday’s ago, the Danville Fire Department had their own annual awards banquet. And four of the guys honored there will be honored Tuesday May 10th, at the 29th Annual Firefighting Medal of Honor Awards Ceremony in Springfield.
Following the Fallen Firefighter Memorial portion of the ceremony; four Danville firefighters will be honored for their heroic actions from last September 4th. Those being honored are Lieutenant Chad Busick getting the Medal of Valor, Firefighter Easton Hoskins getting Firefighting Excellence Award Captain, Sean O’Kane getting a Unit Citation, and Firefighter Kaleb Thompson receiving a Unit Citation.
Chief McMasters reflects on the moment.
AUDIO: Individuals with the department nominated those four individuals for awards, for a save at a house fire that they conducted. It resulted in the woman being brought back from a bad situation at the scene, taken to the hospital, treated, and was eventually released from the hospital and is home alive as we speak due to the work of these four individuals. So they are getting accommodations for that next week in Springfield.
The proceedings next Tuesday in Springfield begin at 10 AM.
