The Vermilion County Hero of the Month for May 2022 is Rory Lester, Chief of the Kickapoo Fire Protection District. He was nominated by volunteer fire fighter Bryan Weir, who credits Rory with getting him back as a volunteer.
Rory was a Danville Fire Fighter for 20 years, but says that like a Marine, once you’re a fire fighter, you’re always a fire fighter, so he now serves as Chief of the Kickapoo Fire Protection District on Warrington Avenue west of Danville.
