An Urbana man who served in Congress and several other public positions has died. Timothy Johnson is being remembered by many. He served as 15th District Congressman from 2001 to 2013 in an area that included Vermilion County. Earlier Johnson served in the Illinois General Assembly as a member of the House of Representatives from 1976 until 2000. He had earlier served on the Urbana City Council.
Congresswoman Mary Miller released a statement calling Johnson ‘’a dedicated advocate for downstate Illinois.’’ She said Johnson was a comforting source of guidance and advice that she always appreciated.
In 2015 Johnson was elected to serve on the Parkland Community College Board.
