We are getting closer to this year’s Balloons Over Vermilion, and B-O-V’s Jim Anderson recently joined Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show. He talked about some big goals for this year’s July 8th and 9th event at Vermilion Regional Airport.
AUDIO: Friday last year set records for us, it really did. We’re hoping this year, for the two day event, we’re hoping this year to break 25,000; which would be a high water mark for us. And when you think about 25,000 people coming to an event for that weekend; to bring their family for good, clean family centered fun.

Danville Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer talked about the big addition this year: The first Balloons Over Vermilion Vendor Fair.
AUDIO: Which is, honestly, I think a lot of people enjoy. It’s great for families. It’s great for individuals. It’s fun to browse. You never know what you’re going to find, you know, little treasures and things. So, it’s going to be a great addition.
Also, Jim Anderson mentioned a special surprise coming from out of state.
AUDIO: A group out of Ohio reached out to us, to see whether or not we would have an interest in bringing a vintage WWII B-25 Mitchell Medium Bomber. They will be hosting tours of the aircraft, and it addition to that they’ll be providing rides.
The hours for Balloons Over Vermilion will be Friday the 8th 3 to 11 PM, and Saturday the 9th 1 to 11 PM.
The Vendor Fair sign-up deadline, by the way, is June 20th. E-mail to AshtonTaylorGreer.com, or find the form at balloonsoververmilion.com.
