Audio PlayerAUDIO: Vermillion, Co Indiana folks can come to the Soil and Water Conservation District Office here in Newport, or the Vermillion County Public Library, and pick up sample bottles. And then we’ll do a mass collection on June 22nd at the Vermillion County Fair; we’ll do a mass collection from 5 to 8 at the Vermillion County 4H Fair. And the Soil and Water (District Office) tests for bacteria and E-Coli, as well as nitrates.
They also test for metals; such as copper, lead, and arsenic. Shideler says this is often a wake-up call for homeowners. Because even though your water might be clean, clear, and odor free; you should still have it checked. The Vermillion County, Indiana Soil and Water Conservation District is located at 383 East Market Street, in Newport.
