THE FOLLOWING IS A CRIS’ HEALTHY AGING CENTER RELEASE
Danville, IL, June 29th, 2022 -During the month of July, CRIS Healthy Aging Center’s Nutrition Department invites seniors aged 60 and over to participate in a series of summer activities.On July 6th, Lynne Barnes, Interim CEO of CRIS will be speaking about Active Aging with a 30-minute presentation beginning at 8:15am.
On July 11th, during the Congregate Dining program from 7-9am, CRIS Health Aging Center (CRIS) willholda melon decorating contestwith a round of BINGO on July 12th. The winner from each event will receive a Walmart Gift Card. OSF’s Garden Share program will take place every Wednesday through October with fresh vegetables being provided along with their health mobile starting July 13th. On July 14th, the movie “The Out-of-Towners (1970)” will be showing during the congregate program from 7-9am. The Senior Summer of Fun week will culminatewith a FREE Summer Meal provided by the Danville Boat Club for seniors aged 60 and over in the CRIS Senior Center.
Throughout the year, the Nutrition Department seeks to build and maintain relationships within the community. There is a space available every Monday – Friday from 7-9am during breakfast at the Senior Centerfor any mission driven, nonprofit organization to share information about their programs serving seniors.Vendors who wish to cater for special events or partner as a restaurant site are encouraged to call 217-443-2999 and ask for the Director of Nutrition.
Since the Grand Re-Opening earlier this year, many customers returned to the Congregate Dining Program. However, there is still room for more guests to participate. Restaurant Partner Coupons are available with long standing partners like OSF’s Cafeteria and new partners like the Georgetown and Hoopeston McDonald’sTMand Gilbert Street Café.
