Balloons Over Vermilion will be happening at Vermilion Regional Airport this Friday and Saturday, and just a couple of weeks ago it was mentioned that some volunteers were especially needed this year for “set up” and “take down.” The Salt Fork High School football program came forward to offer their services, and BOV’s Jim Anderson says they have been a blessing.
AUDIO: The Salt Fork group, they’re an answer to our prayers quite honestly. The kids love to come out here and work. We love to have them out here. They’re indicative of the young folks that help us do this each year. It’s like all of the volunteers; we couldn’t put this together if it weren’t for them.

Two incoming freshman Salt Fork players were helping out at the airport Tuesday morning: Henry Watson and Julien Bond. It was their first time helping with Balloons Over Vermilion, and neither of them are balloon experts, at least not yet.
AUDIO: (Henry) This is my first time. Just to help with the whole thing. (Steve) What’s the main thing you guys are doing, what’s the work you’re doing. (Henry) Well we were washing signs and now we’re putting posts in the ground. (Steve) Does that help with the hard lifting work you have to do for football? (Henry) I guess a little bit. (Steve) All right Julien, what got you out here, do you two know each other? What got you out here? (Julien) Football got me out here. (Steve) What are you planning to do on the football team; your position, what are you going to play? (Julien) Running back and defensive back or corner. (Steve) Ever ridden in a balloon before? (Julien) No I have not.
Balloons Over Vermilion will happen at Vermilion Regional Airport from 3 to 11 PM this Friday, and 1 to 11 PM this Saturday.
