The Illinois Housing Development Authority Board has awarded nearly $500-thousand dollars ($474,863) to Danville Senior Housing. The money is part of conditional awards totaling nearly $12-million dollars in ‘Rebuild Illinois’ funding to provide improvements at 27 housing developments across the state. The money coming to Danville will be used for improvements at the Blue Star Apartments which are located on the grounds of the VA Medical Center.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority says the funds will preserve the safety and long-term stability of affordable rental housing for the benefit of low-income households. In all, more than 1,400 units of affordable rental housing will see capital improvements addressing code violations and security issues across the state.
