THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT RELEASE
A man from rural Ridge Farm has been arrested for the murder of his wife. The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at approximately 4:45 PM, Monday afternoon July 25th, from 75 year old Don Smith; indicating that he had just killed his wife.
Deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene and discovered 77 year old Norma Smith to be deceased. Don Smith was taken into custody without incident, and is currently being held at the Vermilion County Jail on charges of First Degree Murder. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details can be released at this time.
