Could there be two big openings in the Danville area next spring? That’s what Seven Point of Illinois owner Brad Zerman is hoping for. It was last fall that the Danville City Council approved Zerman’s plans for a second adult use cannabis dispensary in the area, at 388 Eastgate Drive just off Lynch Road. But then, some lawsuits about the lottery process last August that gave Seven Point a chance for the state license held the whole process up.
Now, however, Seven Point has the state license; and Zerman says it’s a matter of finalizing drawings for the building, and getting the proposed designs in front of the Danville City Council. Zerman says he’d love to be able to open somewhat close to when something else in Danville opens, the Golden Nugget Casino.
AUDIO: That’s my goal, is to try to start the construction this year, so that we could try to be aligned with the timing of the casino opening in the spring or early summer. Rather than, you know, if we can’t start construction until March 1st, it’s going to be winter next year that we open.

Zerman’s additional proposal for an on-site cannabis consumption lounge was frowned upon by the City Council. But just the same, he says he’s got ideas for “something unique in Danville” as far as the “theme” of the dispensary and then “other products” that could perhaps be sold there. Then, maybe the consumption lounge could come up again later.
AUDIO: I think it’s going to be really interesting and exciting and separate us from the pack. Keep in mind in our drawings that it could be possible to put an addition on to the building. So we’ll keep that in mind, in case they do approve us for a consumption lounge later on.
Zerman says, one advantage his company has is once you are awarded a state license, you have six months to come back to the state with a location. But Seven Point already had it’s location in Danville, and would love to break ground before winter.
