Vermilion Housing Authority Executive Director Jackie Vinson has announced her candidacy for Mayor of Danville in the spring of 2023 election. Vinson previously served as Director of the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the City of Danville under Former Mayor Scott Eisenhauer.
Vinson says she is entering the mayor’s race at what she considers a very important time for Danville. She also says the possibility of running someday goes back to a question Former Mayor Eisenhauer asked her about ten years ago.

The city has a great team that has been assembled. And I think the city is ready for a leader that can set a vision for what our city is going to be.
Ironically, the annual Edgar Fellows Program in Champaign begins this Sunday. Last year, Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr represented our area. This year, Jackie Vinson was nominated and invited to attend.

Vinson has been involved in various foundations and boards within the community; including the Danville Public Library Foundation, the Danville Area Community College Foundation, and Balloons Over Vermilion.
